About UNZA-RUCE

The University of Zambia Research Uptake and Community Engagement Platform (UNZARUCE) is designed to expose UNZA research, innovations, and discoveries to the community and end-users. The platform is in response to the University of Zambia Strategic Plan, focusing on exposing and disseminating research and innovation activities to the end users for possible uptake and knowledge transfer. The platform also responds to the national development plans to use research and innovations to inform their decisions. 

The platform unveils Research and Innovations, Community Engagement Activities, Commercialization & Knowledge Uptake initiatives, and Publications in the Institutional Repository for the public, private, and civil society sectors to interact with and use. 

Our Target

UNZARUCE aspires to:

  1. Promote and support research and innovation initiatives at UNZA.
  2. Disseminate research findings and innovations by researchers to the public and policymakers.
  3. Encourage media houses, the private sector and the government to use research for decision-making, reporting and national development.
  4. Establish partnerships with associations, international research bodies and organisations from across the world.
  5. To develop scientific and research outputs that are relevant and aligned with emerging global priorities within Zambia.
  6. To encourage networking both locally and internationally in the field of research, science, technology, innovation and development.
  7. Promote and support innovation and new knowledge from the public.

Management and Administration 

The University of Zambia Research Uptake and Community Engagement Platform (UNZARUCE) is being managed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation and Director, Directorate of Research and Innovation Development (DRID) aided by the “University Community Research Uptake Committee” Chaired by Dr. Sitwe Benson Mkandawire from the School of Education, Dean’s Office, Department of Language and Social Sciences Education. Other Committee members include Dr. Cindy Kalunga Nakazwe, Dr. Eness Miyanda Chitumbo, Dr. Terence Malama and Dr. Lubinda Mukololo from different schools.
